Eric Clapton To Release ‘Enhanced Edition’ Of ‘Unplugged’

Eric Clapton has announced plans to release an enhanced edition of Eric Clapton Unplugged… Over 30 Years Later.

Eric Clapton Unplugged… Over30 Years Later, from MTV and Paramount, is streaming now globally on Paramount+.

In addition, all-new digital-only Dolby Atmos mixes will be released as a physical companion piece. Unplugged: Enhanced Edition, from Bushbranch/Surfdog Records, will be available on May 9 on triple vinyl and double CD.

Filmed at Bray Studios in Windsor, England on January 16, 1992, and now considered one of the most iconic installments of the entire “MTV Unplugged” series, Eric reimagined his catalog with first-time acoustic arrangements of “Layla,” “Tears in Heaven,” “Old Love,” and more.

He also paid homage to the blues music that influenced him, performing classics like “Before You Accuse Me,” “Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out,” “Rollin’ and Tumblin'” and “Alberta.” The original release became the best-selling live album of all time and won three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.

The upcoming Enhanced-Edition features never-before-heard interviews of Eric discussing the inspiration behind the songs just before he took the stage, seamlessly integrated with the performance audio. This physical release on triple vinyl and double CD also includes tracks not included in the original MTV airing.

All songs, except for “Lonely Stranger,” “Worried Life Blues,” and “Rollin’ and Tumblin’,” are preceded by commentary from Eric from an interview taped just prior to his January 16, 1992 live performance for Unplugged.
