Volbeat

was formed in 2001 after frontman Michael Poulsen left his previous band, Dominus. Their style is somewhere between heavy metal and rockabilly. Their main influences are Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Metallica. Metallica is also mentioned in their song “Wild Rover of Hell”. The third line of the first verse reads: “The stereo pumping Metallica tunes, Ride The Lightning oh yeah!”.

In 2005 they released their first album entitled The Strength/The Sound/The Songs. They reached number eighteen in the Danish album charts after a performance at Roskilde in 2006. No Danish heavy rock band has done this before them.

In February 2007 they released Rock the Rebel/Metal the Devil. The album reached number one on the Danish charts. In November this album went platinum in Denmark. In addition, Volbeat was nominated for an MTV Award for ‘Best Danish Act 2007’.

In February 2008, the band released its first DVD entitled Live: Sold Out!. This release was supported by a European tour that same month.

Personally, I recently discovered this band, in general, I don’t think their music can be compared to Heavy Metal, in my view it is more somewhere between rock and pop. With some light influences in the breaks of metal, definitely not the heavy variety. But it also depends on the type of songs. So I think the style is debatable. In a number of songs, you will even find rock a billy with light metal influences.

It is an art to produce this, recognizable and referring to earlier years. Rock and roll influences in a so-called metal band is daring. can’t say more than great.

Metal combined with rock n billy is very daring and special.
Think this is one of the better party bands. Very melodic and great party music. Worth listening to. Pop Rock, you can slightly find the metal and rock character in the breaks. Yet you will also find the current times in their music.
Call it mellow rock. Simply great.

Wishing you a good start to a new week.
